The San Francisco 49ers will have to do without their “Mister Irrelevant” Brock Purdy for a long time. After the quarterback was injured in the Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles, his diagnosis has now been confirmed.
Brock Purdy will be missing from the San Francisco 49ers for months! According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, citing a source, the quarterback tore a collateral ligament in his elbow in the Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He is expected to be out for around six months.

Sources have additionally reportedly told NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero that Purdy will now undergo surgery. While the youngster will seek second opinions along with his team, for now they are hoping along with doctors that the surgery will allow the lateral ligament to knit itself together.
In case of a necessary reconstruction, the healing process could take much longer. A return at training camp time would then probably become increasingly unlikely.

San Francisco 49ers: Purdy off the field after a few minutes with an injury
Purdy had to leave the field during the first quarter in the Championship Game at the Philadelphia Eagles (31-7) after being tackled on the throwing arm by Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick underneath the throwing motion.
However, the “Mister Irrelevant” of last year’s NFL draft had to return to the field after his replacement Josh Johnson was also injured during the game. The 49ers then had to rely almost exclusively on their running game, as Purdy was limited in his passing game due to the injury.
Consequently, the Californians were unable to find a way to close the gap and missed out on a place in the Super Bowl.
