Rob Gronkowski can’t imagine a future in the NFL right now, which is why he would now say “no” to a return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 2022. The tight end first needs time to get back in shape physically
Munich – Rob Gronkowski does it like buddy Tom Brady: He takes his time. Provides distance to calm down after the bitter playoff exit with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Divisional Round.
So it wouldn’t do any good at the moment to talk to the tight end about his future in the NFL or with the Bucs.
His contract is up and he would be a free agent in March – but the answer you would get from “Gronk” right now would be pretty clear – and a sad one for fans.
Rob Gronkowski: “I won’t play “
“If they said, ‘Rob, you have to decide right now, right this second, if you’re going to play next year,’ I would say ‘no’ right now,” Gronkowski told “TMZ.com”. “I would say, ‘No, I’m not going to play.’ If I had to provide an answer right now,” Gronk clarified, “it would be ‘no.'”
He was one of the Bucs’ top performers in the regular season with 802 receiving yards and six touchdowns. In the playoffs, he caught nine balls for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Certainly, how Brady sees his future will play a role in his decision. But Gronkowski had not ruled out playing with another quarterback.
“Gronk” wants to get fit again
But more important is his health, because of which he had already ended his career once in 2019.
Gronkowski: “I just want to fully recover and see how I feel,” Gronkowski said. “I want to let things settle down – I just need to get healthy, get all the bumps and bruises fixed. “
