Fans of the New York Giants should be gnashing their teeth. At the start of free agency, the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a contract with Saquon Barkley. NFL insiders are unanimous in their reports.
Barkley will receive a three-year deal that could see him pocket up to 46.75 million US dollars (26 guaranteed). The former New York Giants running back will become one of the highest-paid players at his position.
In six seasons for the Giants, the 27-year-old amassed 5,325 yards and 37 touchdowns. He converted 295 catches into 2,177 yards and twelve touchdowns.
Eagles: Barkley follows Swift
On and off, the former first-round pick has struggled with injuries. With the Eagles, he should take over the starting role from D’Andre Swift.
Swift already joined the Chicago Bears. Now Barkley will face the Giants twice a season in his former rival’s jersey.
