Shock for the Carolina Panthers: Star cornerback Jaycee Horn was involved in a car accident on Wednesday morning on his way to the training facility. The team confirmed that the incident occurred near Bank of America Stadium.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured and no transport by emergency services was required. Horn, who was alone in his vehicle, was examined by the Panthers’ medical team. He suffered an injury to his left thumb that required a few stitches, but it is not considered serious.

Carolina Panthers: Horn out for now

As a precaution, the 25-year-old did not participate in joint training with the Cleveland Browns, but was present as an observer on the sidelines. Coach Dave Canales said, “I’m glad Jaycee is okay. He’s being evaluated on a day-to-day basis.” Horn has already been ruled out of Friday’s preseason game against the Browns, but the Panthers hope to have him back for their second preseason game against the Houston Texans on August 16.

The Pro Bowl cornerback, who excelled in the 2024 season with 68 tackles, 13 passes defended and one interception, signed a four-year, $100 million contract extension in March, making him the highest-paid defensive back in the NFL. Horn, the eighth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, is a key part of the Panthers’ defense and is looking to build on his strong preseason after an injury-plagued career.
