The Arizona Cardinals faced the Seattle Seahawks at the start of the fourth match day of the NFL. In the end, the visitors triumphed – thanks in part to a costly kickoff blunder by the Cardinals.
The Seattle Seahawks celebrated a hugely important victory at the start of the fourth week of the 2025 NFL season. The team led by quarterback Sam Darnold won 23-20 away at division rivals the Arizona Cardinals.
This was the Seahawks’ third consecutive victory, bringing their record to 3-1. The Cardinals, on the other hand, suffered their second consecutive defeat and now stand at two wins and two losses. They also lost their first direct division duels against Seattle and the San Francisco 49ers. The celebrated hero of Seattle’s victory was kicker Jason Myers, who converted a 52-yard field goal as the clock ran out. However, Arizona had only themselves to blame for giving him the chance in the first place. With only 28 seconds left on the clock, the Cardinals initially tied the game at 20-20 with a touchdown pass from Kyler Murray to Emari Demercado, but then kicker Chad Ryland made a serious mistake on the kickoff.
His attempt did not reach the landing zone within the 20-yard line, but fell short. The result: the Seahawks were allowed to start their drive at their own 40-yard line. A 22-yard pass from Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and a four-yard run by running back Zach Charbonnet were enough to put Myers in field goal range.
The Cardinals, on the other hand, ruined their comeback. For much of the game, Arizona struggled to get their offense going. Murray made a mistake in the first half, throwing an interception to the Seahawks’ cornerback.
The Cardinals, on the other hand, robbed themselves of the reward for a strong comeback. For much of the game, Arizona had great difficulty getting their offense going. Murray threw two interceptions in the first half.
At the start of the fourth quarter, there was no indication that the Seahawks would run into serious trouble. A field goal by Myers with 9:33 remaining gave Seattle a 20-6 lead. But then Arizona turned up the heat. First, Murray found wide receiver Marvin Harrison for a touchdown in the end zone, then Myers missed a 53-yard field goal. Instead of regaining a two-score lead, Seattle gave the Cardinals good field position. Demercado actually tied the game before the Seahawks had the final say.
