NFL: Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith arrested – police give details

Following the Seattle Seahawks’ win over the Arizona Cardinals, backup quarterback Geno Smith is arrested by police. Now officials are releasing more specific details about the arrest in a report.

Munich/Seattle – On Sunday night, Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith was arrested by police for driving under the influence of unlawful substances. Now officials have released a report with details.

It shows that the Washington State Patrol stopped the playmaker’s car because he was not only driving 96 miles per hour instead of the 60 allowed, but was also snaking across multiple lanes.

According to the arrest report, the officer detected a “strong odour of intoxicants and noticed that the driver had bloodshot, watery eyes.” According to the report, Smith told the cops that he had drunk some wine after the win against the Arizona Cardinals, but stopped 90 minutes before he started driving.

Seahawks quarterback had to be restrained

The athlete refused a breathalyser test, which a judge ordered. Smith was subsequently taken to hospital. There, despite the presence of the Seahawks’ director of security, he became so upset about the pending blood test that he had to be handcuffed by the officers.

A few hours later he was released on $1,000 bail.

Currently, according to “ESPN”, the King County Prosecutor’s Office is still awaiting the results of the investigation, only then can a decision be made on possible charges.

Geno Smith becomes a free agent

The quarterback’s attorney had already said Monday that his client was cooperating with investigators. “I hope that everyone can remain impartial in determining the facts,” lawyer Jon Fox said.

Signal Caller is coming off his third season with the Seahawks. Due to Russell Wilson’s injury, he appeared in four games in 2021 – throwing for 702 yards and five touchdowns with just one interception.

Smith will become a free agent at the end of the season.
