The San Francisco 49ers are allowing Jimmy Garoppolo’s agents to set up a trade. As a result, the quarterback’s departure from California is looking more and more likely.
Munich – Jimmy Garoppolo’s time with the San Francisco 49ers seems to be coming to an end. As NFL insider Adam Schefter reports, the “Niners” have given the quarterback’s agents permission to set up a trade.
This was not least due to his injury problems. The 30-year-old had to undergo shoulder surgery in the offseason, but is now able to train again. According to Schefter, however, the 49ers will not rush into anything and will “handle Garoppolo with care”.
49ers officially have given Jimmy Garoppolo’s agents Don Yee and Carter Chow permission to seek a trade, sources said. Garoppolo has been cleared to start practicing, per team source; 49ers still are expected to exercise caution with him this summer.

The two-time Super Bowl champion came to California via trade from the New England Patriots in late October 2017 and led the franchise to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season. However, San Francisco lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Trey Lance to lead San Francisco into the future
During his time with the 49ers, Garoppolo repeatedly struggled with injuries. Partly because of this, Santa Clara 2021 officials decided to secure a young quarterback in the draft in Trey Lance. Lance is expected to be the starter next season and would thus displace Garoppolo on the bench.
It is still unclear which teams might be interested in “Jimmy G”.
