The NFL documentary “Hard Knocks” has found another “victim”. This summer, in addition to the New York Giants’ preseason, the Chicago Bears will also be documented

Good news for Chicago Bears fans! According to “ESPN” senior and NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bears have been selected as this year’s team for the “Hard Knocks” program.

The broadcasts about the Chicago team will go on the air in August. The New York Giants will already be examined on American TV from July 2.

As part of the US docu-soap from “NFL FIlms” and “HBO”, an NFL team has been followed over the preseason every year since 2012. It was first broadcast in 2001, but at that time at irregular intervals.

The focus is usually on the training camp lasting several weeks before the start of the season. The aim is to form the final squad for the season. The documentary therefore focuses in particular on the disappointment of the stars who have fallen through the cracks and the joy of those who have made the squad.

There are also exciting insights such as the integration of the rookies and the communication between the different characters in the teams.

Bears for the first time at “Hard Knocks “

The Baltimore Ravens were scrutinized in the first documentary 23 years ago. Record participants are the Dallas Cowboys, who were followed in 2002, 2008 and 2021. For the Chicago Bears, however, participating in “Hard Knocks” is a first.

Since 2013, the NFL has clearly regulated which team is accompanied. Either a team volunteers or a franchise that has not participated in the last ten years, does not have a head coach in its debut season or has not reached the play-offs in the last two years.

The Chicago Bears last made the playoffs in 2020 and have been coached by Matt Eberflus since 2023. This set the stage for the Bears to be the subject of the new season.

In-season season entices with novelty

In the following in-season edition of “Hard Knocks”, there will be a novelty. For the first time, an entire division will be scrutinized.

However, it is not yet known which one it will be. Since 2021, “HBO” has been showing an in-season season in addition to the preseason season. Most recently, the Dolphins were the subject of this.
