NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers want to make a trade offer for Aaron Rodgers

The future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains a hotly debated topic. As “Pro Football Talk” reports, a first team will now send an offer to the Green Bay Packers.

Munich/Pittsburgh – After the career end of Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers have chosen a concrete successor as their franchise quarterback, according to “Pro Football Talk” – Aaron Rodgers!

According to the report, the current NFL MVP’s advisors have already met with Steelers officials several times and informed Rodgers’ side to send a trade offer for the superstar to the Green Bay Packers.

The Steelers boast a positive balance of about $30 million in cap space and have not surrendered a significant draft pick in recent years. So they would have both the financial and draft capital to handle the Rodgers deal.

Green Bay Packers: mega salary possible for Aaron Rodgers

However, his current team hasn’t given up the fight for the 38-year-old either. As NFL insider Ian Rappoport reported a few days ago, the Packers are said to want to persuade Rodgers to change his mind with a record salary.

According to the report, this is a short-term deal, but it should make Rodgers the highest-paid player in the league within a year. So far, that’s Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills at $47 million annually. Rodgers last collected just over 27 million dollars, so he would have to get a salary increase of at least 20 million dollars.
