NFL: Philadelphia Eagles make emotional gesture for New Orleans bombing victims

The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions. They attract positive attention with a special gesture at their parade at home.

New Orleans was the site of this year’s Super Bowl. The same city where, at the turn of the year, a man in a pickup truck drove into a crowd, killing 14 people.

As NBC reports, a survivor of the attack is a huge Eagles fan and was therefore allowed to be part of the parade in Philadelphia.

Ryan Quigley was spotted in the crowd by Eagles players Jordan Mailata, Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson.

They immediately lifted him and his wheelchair into the team bus and let him celebrate in their midst and drive through the crowd.

The team already knew Quigley, who lost his best friend Tiger Bech, also an Eagles fan, in the attack. Since then, the players, Quigley and Bech’s family have been in contact.

As he himself recounts, the team invited him to watch the Super Bowl live in the stadium.

“The Eagles feel like family,” Quigley told the Philadelphia Inquirer. And further: “I now consider some of them my best friends.”

“I don’t think the guys realize the impact their gestures have had on me and Tiger’s family. I don’t know how to thank them, but I know we will all be lifelong Eagles fans,” he added.
