Before the clash between the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys, Panthers coach Matt Rhule is effusive in his praise of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. In the process, he compares the former fourth-round pick to two Hall of Famers.
Munich/Charlotte – It’s not surprising and certainly nothing new when a head coach praises the opponent before an NFL game. Sometimes even a little effusively.
But the praise that Matt Rhule, head coach of the Carolina Panthers, bestowed on Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys in the run-up to the game left more than a few with raised eyebrows.
Prescott “like Manning and Brees “
Telling The Athletic, Rhule said, “When you talk about the Cowboys offense, you have to start with Dak Prescott. He’s unbelievably good. He calls plays at the line of scrimmage and he gets the ball to the man quickly. It’s like watching Peyton Manning or Drew Brees. What he does is unbelievable,” the sophomore head coach said.
“He’s the second fastest in the league when it comes to getting the ball out of his hands. That shows he knows exactly where to put the ball against which defense,” enthused Matt Rhule, who will be coaching for the first time against Prescott.
In three games so far, Prescott has put up strong numbers, completing 86 of 111 passes (77 percent), while also gaining 878 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions.
