Last season was a mixed bag for New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson. After being named the starter once again, the 24-year-old garnered few arguments in favor of continuing to play. Now the Jets have even allowed him to look for a new team.

In the first round of the 2021 draft, the New York Jets selected quarterback Zach Wilson. The BYU player actually went off the board as only the second player of the night. In retrospect, the pick turned out to be a misunderstanding;

Wilson was never completely convincing. Now the Jets chapter could be coming to an end. As general manager Joe Douglas confirmed to “ESPN”, the franchise has allowed Wilson’s agent to seek a trade.

This means WIlson could change his team within this year’s offseason. In his three years in New York, he appeared in 34 games for the Jets, winning 13 and losing 21.

Last season, he lost his starting spot to star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After Rodgers unfortunately ruptured his Achilles tendon on his debut, Wilson was once again named the starter. After a mixed season, he lost this spot to backup Tim Boyle two games before the end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether Zach Wilson will find a new team. A move could save the Jets a whopping 11.1 million US dollars in cap space. If Wilson does not leave the Jets, he will become a free agent for the 2025 NFL season.
