Jakob Johnson had to go through a roller coaster ride in the past few days, but he is now back on the New York Giants’ practice squad.
At first, his NFL journey seemed to be over after the German fullback was released by the New York Giants to make room for newcomer Adoree’ Jackson.
The Giants had recently signed the cornerback as a defensive reinforcement, but Johnson had to vacate his spot on the G-Men’s 53-man roster.
It was the next emotional turn of events for the 29-year-old native of Stuttgart. Johnson had only signed a contract with the Giants in mid-August, but did not make the roster cut the previous week and was released.
Shortly afterwards, he was included in the Giants’ newly formed practice squad and wanted to recommend himself for appearances there over the course of the season.

A little later, Johnson received news that was as pleasant as it was surprising: after the injury to center Austin Schlottmann, he was given his spot on the team’s active squad.
