NFL: New York Giants add Angela Baker as second woman to coaching staff

About a month ago, Brian Daboll was installed as the new head coach of the New York Giants. Now he is bringing in his second woman to his coaching staff in a very short period of time.

Munich – Women on the coaching staff of an NFL franchise are still a rarity – but that seems to be slowly changing with the New York Giants.

Last month Brian Daboll was installed as the team’s head coach and since then he has already brought two women into his team. Just a few days ago, Laura Young was hired as Director of Coaching Operations – she had previously worked for the Buffalo Bills.

Now, according to “ESPN”, the next lady has made it. According to the report, Angela Baker will serve as Offensive Quality Control Coach in the future. She was previously active in a diversity programme with the Cleveland Browns.

Only twelve female coaches in the 2021 NFL season

These two are the first women the Giants have had on their coaching staff. In 2020, after all, Hannah Burnett was already installed as the first woman in the scouting department.

In 2015, the Cardinals had the first female coach in NFL history in Jen Welter.

In 2021, the 32 teams found a total of twelve women as part of the coaching staff. That number is expected to increase in 2022.
