NFL – New Orleans Saints: Derek Carr on the verge of an inglorious record

Derek Carr can set an inglorious record on Sunday – and even extend it this season.

Will Derek Carr grab a record? In Week 9 of the NFL, he has the opportunity to do so.

It would be an inglorious record, though. Because if the New Orleans Saints lose with Carr as their quarterback on Sunday, he will have lost to 31 different NFL teams. No quarterback has ever “managed” that before.

Like Carr, Drew Bledsoe, Brett Favre, Jon Kitna, Drew Brees, Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck, Alex Smith, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan have currently lost to 30 teams.

The good news: the Carolina Panthers, who are 1-7, are the opponents on Sunday. Although the Saints, at 2-6, are not much better off

In theory, Carr, whose overall record as a starting quarterback in the regular season is 74-90, could even “clean up” this season. Because the other team Carr has never lost to are the Raiders, for whom he was selected in the second round in 2014 and played until 2022.

In Week 17, the four-time Pro Bowler and the Saints will face the Las Vegas franchise.

He would then also be the first playmaker to have lost to all 32 teams. Incidentally, there are several record holders in the other direction: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Drew Brees have won against all 32 teams in their careers.
