NFL: New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton arouses interest with TV station

The “Fox Sports” station is apparently interested in hiring the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, Sean Payton, as a TV expert.

Munich/New Orleans – Is Sean Payton moving from the sidelines to the TV camera?

The channel “Fox Sports” is apparently interested in hiring the head coach of the New Orleans Saints as an expert. This is reported by “Front Office Sport”.

According to the report, Payton is to become the successor to Troy Aikman, who is apparently the top candidate of “Amazon” for the Thursday Night Football broadcasts in the coming season.

Payton has not yet decided whether he will also serve as the Saints’ head coach in 2022, according to Ian Rapoport. According to the NFL Insider, Payton received an enquiry from at least one media outlet during the season regarding a collaboration.

However, “Fox” probably has other options should Aikman leave the station. Greg Olsen, Aqib Talib and former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers are said to be candidates for the post.

Payton would not be the first NFL coach to give up his job in favour of a TV deal. Bruce Arians, Jon Gruden, Dave Wannstedt, John Madden and Bill Parcells already traded in their coaching headsets for the TV studio.

Payton’s contract with the Saints runs until 2024.
