The Minnesota Vikings are setting the course for the future. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has signed a long-term contract with the franchise.
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will remain general manager of the Minnesota Vikings for the long term.
The NFL franchise announced on Friday that the 43-year-old has signed a new multi-year contract.
“Kwesi’s leadership, vision and collaboration with our coaching staff have led the Minnesota Vikings to sustained success,” said Vikings president and co-owner Mark Wilf.
In addition, “his commitment and forward-thinking approach” have been instrumental in “shaping our roster and our future, and we are confident that under his leadership and that of Kevin O’Connell, we will continue to compete at the highest level,” Wilf continued.
Adofo-Mensah has been the Vikings’ GM since January 2022 and is responsible for the team’s roster decisions. His previous contract would have expired after the upcoming season.
“This organization means so much to me, and I have always believed in what we are building here. From the owners to the incredible staff, there is a genuine commitment to creating a winning culture with the goal of winning year in and year out,” Adofo-Mensah is quoted as saying.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell also extends contract
This means that Minnesota has secured the long-term services of its two most important sporting decision-makers. Head coach O’Connell extended his contract back in January. Together, they have reached the playoffs twice in the past three years, but have not progressed beyond the Wild Card Round so far.
Adofo-Mensah began his NFL career in 2013 with the San Francisco 49ers. From 2020 to 2021, he served as vice president of football operations for the Cleveland Browns before moving to Minneapolis.
