NFL: Matthew Stafford stays with the Los Angeles Rams – Raiders and Giants out of the running

Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams have now agreed to continue their collaboration. It had previously been reported that the Raiders and the Giants had entered the poker game for the quarterback.

It could have been the first big trade of the NFL offseason! But now the Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford have agreed to continue their partnership after all.

Accordingly, the contract of the 37-year-old, who won the 2022 Super Bowl with the Rams, will be restructured. The team has since confirmed a report to that effect by NFL insider Adam Schefter.

It was previously reported that Stafford had been given permission to look for a more lucrative option.

As reported by The Athletic, not only were the Las Vegas Raiders interested in Stafford, but so were the New York Giants.

“It’s the Raiders and Giants who are being most aggressive on this,” reporter Dianna Russini said at ‘Scoop City’.

According to her, both the Raiders and the Giants wanted to lure the quarterback with a mega-salary. 90 million guaranteed for two years!

But now the Rams have made the move and are likely to have offered Stafford a contract that meets his needs. In the old contract, four million was still guaranteed for 2025, but there was no guarantee for 2026.

Stafford, however, wanted to restructure his two-year contract to reach $50 million per year, according to information from “NFL Network”.

The exact figures on which both parties have now agreed have not been published.
