Rams receiver Puka Nacua is already committing to the end of his career.
Puka Nacua, wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, does not want a long NFL career. The pass receiver, who turns 24 in May, explained when exactly he wants to end his career in the “Join The Lobby” podcast.
“I know I want to retire at 30,” the athlete said. ”I’m 23 now and going into my third year – it wouldn’t even be 10 years. It might be seven or eight. I’m thinking of Aaron Donald, retiring at the top, that would be super cool.”
For Nacua, a very different wish is at the top of his list, alongside sporting success. “I also want to have a big family. I want to have at least a starting five. I come from a big family, so I need five guys, obviously. But I also want to be a part of their lives and be with them as much as possible,” the athlete said.
And further: “Injuries are something you can’t control, it’s part of the game, so you never know. I hope the rest of my career is healthy, but you have shoulder, knee or ankle surgery. By the time my kids are 18, I might not be able to walk anymore if you play the game and take all the injuries you take, so I want to retire early.”
Puka Nacua enters third NFL season with Los Angeles Rams
Nacua was drafted by the Rams in the fifth round in 2023 and is now entering his third NFL season.
He would be 30 years old in his ninth season. This would make his career even shorter than that of Aaron Donald, who retired after ten seasons.
