Adrian Peterson can’t seem to stay out of the negative headlines. The former NFL star has been arrested for the second time this year.
Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson is once again facing multiple charges after being arrested early Sunday morning in Sugar Land, Texas.
According to local station KHOU 11, police confirmed that Peterson was taken into custody at around 9:30 a.m. He is accused of driving while intoxicated (DWI) and carrying an unauthorized weapon.
Earlier this year, the 40-year-old was arrested on similar DWI charges just hours after attending the NFL Draft party in Minnesota.
Peterson also got into a heated argument at a poker tournament in the summer.
Peterson’s NFL comeback plan failed
No charges were filed for the incident at the time, and the police were not called. However, a video showed Peterson with a bloody facial injury, which he attributed to bumping into a chair during the scuffle.
Peterson, who was named NFL Rookie of the Year in 2007 after an outstanding rookie season in Oklahoma, racked up 14,918 rushing yards and 120 touchdowns in his 15-year career. He spent most of his career—ten seasons—with the Minnesota Vikings before having shorter stints in New Orleans, Washington, Arizona, Detroit, Tennessee, and Seattle. After his final NFL season in 2021, Peterson attempted a comeback after sitting out the 2022 season.
However, the plan failed. Had the former MVP actually returned, he would have been the oldest running back in the Super Bowl era since 1966 at the age of 38.
