The Green Bay Packers have released cornerback Jaire Alexander, one of the team’s most prominent players.
Personnel decision at the Green Bay Packers: The Wisconsin franchise has released star cornerback Jaire Alexander, according to multiple US media reports.
The Packers had offered the 28-year-old a restructured contract that would have earned him less than the $16.15 million base salary he was due for the upcoming season. Alexander rejected the offer.
The athlete had not participated in the Packers’ voluntary training sessions during the offseason while both parties were still considering a future together.
Jaire Alexander struggled with injuries
Alexander, who has developed into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, missed countless games due to injury, especially in the past two years.
The 28-year-old, who was drafted by the Packers in the first round in 2018, is now a free agent. In 2022, he had agreed to a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the Packers.
