Mourning at the Green Bay Packers: Longtime offensive line coach Larry Beightol has died at the age of 81.
The Green Bay Packers are mourning the loss of Larry Beightol. The franchise officially announced on Sunday that the longtime offensive line coach passed away at the age of 81. Beightol suffered from heart problems, dementia and diabetes.
Beightol was the Packers’ offensive line coach from 1999 to 2005, during which time the franchise made the playoffs four times. He worked with four future Hall of Famers while with the Packers: Center Frank Winters, guard Marco Rivera and tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher.
As a result, Beightol was regarded as one of the best O-line coaches in NFL history.
Beightol spent a total of 22 years as an offensive line coach in the NFL, his last stop being the Detroit Lions in the 2006 season. He also worked with the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets, among others.
