NFL: Green Bay Packers get win against Cleveland Browns – Aaron Rodgers with flawless performance

The Green Bay Packers continue on the winning track. The Packers collected their twelfth win of the season with a 24-22 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was convincing, on the other side Baker Mayfield experienced a used working day.

Munich – Thanks in part to a strong performance by Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers celebrated their twelfth win of the season on the 16th NFL game day. Head coach Matt LaFleur’s team won 24-22 against the Cleveland Browns.

Rodgers dissected the Browns’ defensive department in the short passing game, completing 24 of his 34 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns. He repeatedly served his favourite playmaker Davante Adams, who accounted for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

The Browns often relied on their cornerbacks to be in one-on-one coverage against Adams and fumbled with that strategy.

Rodgers often got rid of the football quickly, so the Browns defence rarely managed to apply pressure. Rodgers did not have to record a sack.

The reigning MVP also set a new franchise record. He has thrown 445 touchdown passes in his career, more than any Packers quarterback ever before.

Mayfield disappointing

On the other hand, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield gave out several Christmas presents to the Packers defence. In total, the first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft made four interceptions. His two touchdown passes were to tight end Harrison Bryant and wide receiver Anthony Schwartz. The injury-plagued offensive line allowed five sacks.

On the ground, running back Nick Chubb amassed 126 yards and a touchdown. The Browns came back into the game in the second half before Mayfield threw another interception just before the end. Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas caught his second interception of the night, but the referees overlooked a holding call on the 26-year-old.

With the loss, the Browns now have a record of 7-8, next week Head Coach Kevin Stefanski’s team will head to Pittsburgh for a divisional duel with the Steelers, the Packers will take on the Minnesota Vikings.
