NFL – Giants chaos after another humiliation for Daniel Jones – lack of understanding in the locker room?

It’s getting worse and worse for Daniel Jones. After his official demotion to quarterback number three of the New York Giants, he suffered the next setback in training.

Quarterback Daniel Jones is currently experiencing the worst phase of his NFL career.

After several poor performances, with the loss in Munich against the Carolina Panthers as the low point, the 27-year-old was not only benched at the New York Giants, but officially demoted to third quarterback.

But apparently the situation is even worse for Jones. As a reporter from “The Athletic” observed at Giants training on Wednesday, the sixth pick of the 2019 draft was only given the snaps as the fourth (!) quarterback. Even Tim Boyle, who is in the practice squad, was preferred to Jones.

On Thursday, things got even wilder. In the run-up to the home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jones was suddenly put in as a safety during training.

The quarterback is currently facing a hail of humiliation, which is apparently not without effect on the team either. Defensive star Dexter Lawrence had already stated that he was hurting over the situation of his colleague and friend. “It hurts, he’s my best friend,” Lawrence said, “As a player, you have to move on, as a person and a brother, I feel bad.”

And he made it clear: “It’s clear he’s the QB1 for me. He’s the best quarterback on the team. But the coaches see it differently. That’s apparently all that matters.”

But now the climate at the Giants seems to be worsening due to the issue. According to Fox reporter Jordan Schultz, the team is not at all happy with how the organization around Head Coach Brian Daboll is handling the situation and treating Jones.

Giants don’t want to take any chances with Jones

Schultz quotes an unnamed offensive player as follows: “We’re not idiots. They did it for the money. So be it. But Daniel has always behaved well, never complained, and is now being completely disregarded.”

What the player means? The Giants probably want to prevent Jones from suffering more serious injuries. If he were to suffer an injury that would prevent him from passing a medical check next March, the quarterback would receive a guaranteed salary of $23 million. If he is healthy, no salary is guaranteed and he could be released relatively inexpensively.

Nevertheless, the way Jones is being treated is apparently upsetting the players. The Signal Caller is not solely to blame for the current situation. “It’s not just one player who is losing. The whole team is losing, people should realize that,” said Lawrence.

And the anonymous pro made it clear: “The team’s record is weak. You can point the finger at anything and anyone. Blaming him is nonsense, and making him number three is damn weak.” The mood at the Giants is at rock bottom.
