Smith was also considered an unfulfilled promise for a long time before the former second-round pick from 2013 got his career back on track with the Seahawks over the last three seasons.
He was traded to the Raiders in this year’s offseason. After the game, head coach Pete Carroll commented on the middle finger debate.
“Did everyone see what was on the sign? Next question!” he said when asked by a reporter how he viewed Smith’s behavior. The Raiders and Seahawks tied the game 23-23, with Smith completing one of three passes for 15 yards.
