For Equanimeous St. Brown, the San Francisco 49ers chapter is over for now: As reported by CBS Sports, the German-American wide receiver has been released again, this time with an injury settlement.

The 28-year-old suffered a foot injury during a joint training session with the Denver Broncos last week, the exact diagnosis of which is not known.

As a result, the 49ers placed him on the injured reserve list, prompting NFL insider Adam Schefter to report that his season was over.

In the NFL, injured players cannot simply be released. Instead, in such cases, an “injury settlement” is often agreed upon. This involves paying the portion of the salary corresponding to the expected time lost.

Provided he recovers, this gives St. Brown the opportunity to join another team during the course of this season.

For “EQ,” however, this marks the end of a particularly turbulent period: he was signed by the 49ers in July, released shortly thereafter, and then brought back a few days later. Then came the injury. And now the next separation.

EQ St. Brown: 49ers were his fourth NFL team

The older brother of Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown is now without a team and has to rethink his future in the NFL. The 49ers were already his fourth stop in the league after Green Bay, Chicago, and New Orleans.

Last season, St. Brown made only two appearances for the Saints without recording a catch. His most successful NFL season came three years ago, when he caught 21 passes for 323 yards and one touchdown in 16 games for the Bears in 2022.
