NFL: Detroit Lions and Amon-Ra St. Brown – is there a threat of repercussions because of Netflix series?

Amon-Ra St. Brown speaks openly in a documentary series about an injury that he had previously concealed. This could have consequences in retrospect

Will Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Detroit Lions be doomed by the Netflix series “Receiver”?

The Lions’ German-born wide receiver was famously part of the streaming season and revealed in it that he was hiding an injury he suffered on Game 3 against the Atlanta Falcons.

“I can barely walk, I would rate the pain as an 8 or 9 on a scale of 10,” he said in the documentary: “So I thought to myself, ‘It’s too late for me not to play. The game plan is set. I really don’t like taking painkillers, unless it’s for the Packers.”

The next game was just four days later. And it wasn’t against just any team from the NFL, but against the Green Bay Packers, the Lions’ arch-rivals for almost a century. So St. Brown didn’t want to miss this game – and he actually played.

The problem: the 24-year-old did not appear in any of the mandatory pre-game injury reports. This information is important, especially for the betting market.

Because if a player goes into a game with an injury, for example, the probability of a worse statistic is higher than under normal circumstances.

In the case of St. Brown, however, only insiders who were close enough to the player and the team could have known about it.

NBC Sports is therefore now speculating whether the Lions will now face a penalty as a result. “Now the league has to deal with it. Or not. Either way, the case proves once again that the Injury Reports are anything but effective and insider information is widespread,” the website states.

Why did the Lions wave through the sensitive statements?

What makes this matter even more incomprehensible is the fact that the Lions had the opportunity to have St. Brown’s sensitive statements edited out of the episode.

However, they chose not to. A decision they may live to regret.
