NFL: Despite franchise tag! Dalton Schultz wants to pursue new contract

Dalton Schultz, tight end of the Dallas Cowboys, insists on a new contract. The Cowboys equipped him with the franchise tag in the spring, Schultz now wants to pursue a long-term deal.

Munich – The Dallas Cowboys and tight end Dalton Schultz are not on the same page yet. The 25-year-old has told the team that he will not participate in practice for the time being. Stagnating contract negotiations are the motive for this decision, according to consistent reports.

The Cowboys used franchise day in the spring to tie up Schultz for the coming season. That would pay him US$10.931 million.

However, Schultz is insisting on a more long-term deal. Both sides would have until 15 July to do so. The next minicamp is already scheduled for 14-16 June. If the fourth-round pick of the 2018 draft skips that one, he’ll face a fine.

Cowboys drafted new tight end

The tight end amassed 808 receiving yards and eight touchdowns last season.

In the NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected Jake Ferguson in the fourth round, who resembles Dalton Schultz athletically and stylistically.
