The Dallas Cowboys lost the Sunday Night Game in Week 15 and must now practically bury their playoff hopes.
A bitter evening for the Dallas Cowboys. In the Sunday Night Game of the 15th NFL match day, America’s Team lost 26:34 at home to the Minnesota Vikings. Their chances of reaching the playoffs have now fallen to a meager one percent.
In concrete terms, this means that The Cowboys would have to win their remaining three games, while Super Bowl winners the Philadelphia Eagles would have to lose their three games. Only then would Dallas overtake Philly and qualify for the postseason via the division title.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 294 yards, but failed to score a touchdown.
Javonte Williams and Malik Davis each ran one yard into the end zone for Dallas, and kicker Brandon Aubrey scored four field goals. The Vikings, who knew before kickoff that they were out of playoff contention, earned their second consecutive victory.
Vikings celebrate another victory
Quarterback J.J. McCarthy threw two touchdown passes to his receiver Jalen Nailor and also ran into the end zone himself. Another run by C.J. Ham and two field goals ultimately sealed the final score.
“It’s just about building on what we’ve accomplished and carrying that momentum into next year,” Nailor said after the game. “We always focus on the next game, no matter what our record looks like.”
The Vikings will face the New York Giants next week, while the Cowboys will take on the L.A. Chargers.
