NFL: Dallas Cowboys – Kenny Clark part of Micah Parsons deal: “I was shocked”

Kenny Clark was surprisingly traded to the Cowboys in the Parsons deal and immediately feels welcome after talks with the team. He wants to help lead Dallas to the Super Bowl.

Kenny Clark was shocked when he found out while getting ice cream for his daughter that he was part of the spectacular NFL trade between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.

On the official Dallas team website, the defensive tackle explained that he had no prior knowledge of the trade.

It was only when he received the final news that he realized he had been sent to Dallas along with draft picks in exchange for superstar Micah Parsons.

“I was shocked, but when Jerry and all the guys called me — Schotty (head coach Brian Schottenheimer, note) and everyone — I immediately felt like I was really wanted. It’s a blessing, and I’m very grateful for it,” Clark said.

Kenny Clark to stabilize Cowboys’ run defense

The 29-year-old played nine years with the Packers and was named to the Pro Bowl three times. Statistically, he backs that up with a total of 35 career sacks, including a career-high 7.5 in 2023.

The Cowboys want him to stabilize their vulnerable run defense in particular – a key factor in why Jerry and Stephen Jones entered into the Parsons deal in the first place.

The defensive tackle describes himself as an uncompromising player: “No nonsense, you’re going to get a dawg” – someone who puts everything into football and is almost unstoppable at the highest level.

In addition to his core role as a nose tackle, he sees himself as versatile enough to make an important impact in the pass rush as well.

New opportunity in Dallas: Super Bowl in sight

With his new role in mind, Clark emphasizes that he wants to quickly integrate himself into the team – not only athletically, but also as a leader. He believes in “leading by example,” i.e., leadership through professionalism and commitment.

His connection to Osa Odighizuwa, who like him comes from UCLA, offers him a good starting point.

For Clark, the move is also a sporting opportunity: he sees Dallas as a historic franchise that has the potential to win the Super Bowl again. “That’s all I want – to bring that title to Dallas,” Clark said.
