The Dallas Cowboys have a negative record after eight weeks. This has prompted head coach Brian Schottenheimer to use surprisingly strong language.
In the US, people don’t like it when you swear. It is censored on TV whenever possible. In the NFL, it can sometimes result in heavy penalties. Brian Schottenheimer, head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, doesn’t seem to care. After a clear 24-44 defeat against the Denver Broncos in week eight, Schottenheimer made his feelings clear on Wednesday. When asked about the Cowboys’ actually strong offense, the 52-year-old blurts out:
“None of us did our job well enough. […] That’s the reality. Our record is what it is. And that goes not only for the defense, but also for the offense. We are a football team with a 3-4-1 record. As far as I’m concerned, you can shove the offensive statistics up your ass. It is what it is. We want to win,” Schottenheimer is quoted as saying by the Dallas Morning News, among others.
Cowboys with strong offense and weak defense
The Cowboys currently have the second-strongest offense in the league. However, the franchise also concedes an average of 404.6 yards per game. Only the Bengals’ defense is weaker (407.9 yards).
In Week 9, Dallas will face the Arizona Cardinals, currently the fourth-weakest team in the NFC with a 2-5 record, in the Monday Night Game.
