CeeDee Lamb’s future with the Dallas Cowboys is still uncertain. The star receiver continues to stay away from practice. The training camp in Oxnard scheduled for the end of July will probably take place without the 25-year-old.
There is still no end in sight to the dispute between the Dallas Cowboys and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
As the Dallas Morning News reports, the 25-year-old is not expected to attend training camp in Oxnard if he has not agreed to a contract with the Cowboys by then. The first session is scheduled for July 25. That leaves just over three weeks to smooth over the contract fronts that have been hardening for weeks.
Lamb has not taken part in Cowboys training for some time now. He initially missed the voluntary sessions and also skipped the start of the mandatory training session. Behavior that can have expensive consequences.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, a player can be fined up to 14,775 dollars if he skips the first day of training camp. If he misses all three days of training camp, that amount can grow to as much as 100,000 dollars.
But Lamb, who is still playing under his rookie contract, continues to play poker. There could even be a holdout.
Background: Numerous receivers signed big contracts this offseason, including Amon-Ra St. Brown (30 million annual salary) and Justin Jefferson (35 million annual salary). At 3.5 million per year, Lamb can’t keep up.
The Cowboys drafted Lamb in the first round in 2020. Since then, he’s established himself as a reliable option for quarterback Dak Prescott. Lamb has caught 395 passes for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns in his 66 NFL games to date.
