NFL – Dak Prescott faces the end of the season! Dallas Cowboys quarterback likely to need surgery

The Dallas Cowboys, who are already in crisis, have to deal with an injury to quarterback Dak Prescott in the game against the Atlanta Falcons. Now he even faces the prospect of surgery and, with that, the end of the season.

As if the Dallas Cowboys’ sporting situation were not already worrying enough, quarterback Dak Prescott’s injury is now apparently much worse than initially expected.

As “ESPN” reports, the 31-year-old is planning surgery on his partially torn thigh muscle, subject to the opinion of another specialist. If the procedure is performed, it would mean the end of the season for him.

Prescott will fly to New York at the beginning of next week to be examined again. However, the Cowboys doctors and trainers apparently believe that the operation, which would sideline him for four months, is unavoidable. If the relevant specialist agrees with this assessment, the operation is scheduled to take place as early as next Wednesday.

According to the report, the Cowboys apparently believe that it is better to treat the injury now than to let it heal on its own and suffer complications down the road. In an interview with Dallas radio station “105.3 The Fan” on Friday, Jerry Jones, owner and general manager of the Cowboys, said that Prescott actually wanted to avoid surgery.

Prescott still looking confident after Falcons game

In the game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, the playmaker suffered the aforementioned thigh injury, and he also suffers from a hand injury. Until then, the playmaker completed 18 of his 24 pass attempts for 133 yards and a touchdown. Backup Cooper Rush was then brought into the game for the veteran.

Prescott himself was still confident after the game that he would be back on the field in the upcoming NFL week.

“I felt something,” Prescott said after the game (via “The Athletic”). “I felt something I’ve never felt before,” Prescott added to ESPN, but announced, “It’s going to take a lot for me not to be out there.”

But Prescott was not the only star player to suffer an injury with the Cowboys. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb also missed the game with a shoulder injury and will undergo an MRI scan on Monday.

The Cowboys are in a difficult situation, losing the game against the Atlanta Falcons 21-27 and sitting at a disappointing 3-5 record.
