NFL comes to Germany: Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet Seattle Seahawks in Munich

Now it’s finally official: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face the Seattle Seahawks in the first ever NFL regular season game on German soil at Munich’s Allianz Arena on 13 November 2022.

Munich – The long wait is finally over. Last year, as part of the NFL’s expansion of its schedule to 17 regular season games, the NFL stipulated that starting with the 2022 season, up to four teams will each play an international game on a neutral field instead of a home game. This affects teams from the Conference, each of which would have an additional, ninth home game as a result of the schedule expansion.

The first ever NFL regular season game on German soil will take place in the stadium of the recently crowned German football champions FC Bayern Munich. It will be the first ever major non-football event at the Allianz Arena. Kick-off is on 13 November 2022 at 15:30.

Buccaneers meet Seahawks

This will see two-time Super Bowl winners and current NFC South champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by quarterback Tom Brady, face the Seattle Seahawks of the NFC West, who themselves won the Super Bowl in the playoffs following the 2013 season.

“We are pleased to announce the details of the first regular season NFL game in Germany,” said Alexander Steinforth, NFL General Manager for Germany. “Fans in this country will get the unique opportunity to see two of the most popular and successful NFL teams in recent years. For the Seahawks’ huge fanbase in Germany, this announcement today is very special news. The impressive FC Bayern stadium provides the perfect backdrop. This game will definitely be one to remember. “
