After his first personal win of the season, Bryce Young will start for the Carolina Panthers in the NFL game in Munich. But what about the future?
Bryce Young had good reason to smile. It’s been a long time since you could write a sentence like that after an NFL game.
The 23-22 win over the New Orleans Saints was Young’s first win of the season, while the Carolina Panthers, with Andy Dalton as signal caller, got the other.
Is the 2023 first overall pick finally on the rise again? “He did a fantastic job,” general manager Dan Morgan said of his quarterback. “He fought, kept his cool and closed the game in the end.”
“That’s what I always say: close plays, close drives, close quarters and ultimately close games,” he said, lavishly praising Young.
As a result, the 23-year-old, who initially replaced the injured Andy Dalton, was also named as the starter for the NFL Munich Game against the New York Giants.
Since his temporary demotion, there have been repeated rumors of a trade. After last Tuesday’s deadline, one thing was clear: Young remains a Panther. “I never opened the door on that,” Morgan clarified. “I didn’t want to trade Bryce for a second.”
Despite praise: Young remains committed
So will the Alabama graduate remain the future franchise quarterback of the Panthers? “We’ll look at it day by day,” the Panthers GM said.
As effusively as Dan Morgan praised his protégé, he vehemently put the brakes on questions about the future. “We want to see how he develops under Coach Dave Canales. We’re looking forward to that.”
And in the long term? “We’ll start thinking about the future once the season is over. Then we’ll see where we stand.”
