NFL – Cam Jordan wants to steer Aaron Rodgers to the New Orleans Saints

After the Green Bay Packers’ surprising exit in the Divisional Round, there is much speculation about Aaron Rodgers’ future. Now Cam Jordan has stepped in and wants to steer the 38-year-old to the New Orleans Saints.

Munich/New Orleans – The rumours about Aaron Rodgers do not stop. The quarterback of the Green Bay Packers has kept both a retirement from the NFL and a stay in Wisconsin as well as a trade request open.

Logically, the courtship of the current and possibly future MVP is now underway within the league. This week, Cam Jordan of the New Orleans Saints began the process.

Jordan: “He could make a lot of decisions here “

On “ESPN”, the former All-Pro defensive end said, “Maybe you’ll see Aaron in black and gold soon. “

The Saints’ number 94. Black and gold are the colours of the Louisiana franchise.

Asked if the vacancy at the Saints’ head coach position could be a problem, Jordan said with a smile, “Well, I heard he had some issues with his last head coach. He could help decide that position,” the 32-year-old said.

“He could decide a lot here in general. He just needs to get in touch with Miss Gayle Benson (Saints owner, ed.). I’m just a defensive end, I just take care of the quarterback I can bring down next. But as a QB, you have a lot more to decide,” Jordan Rodgers says, trying to make a move to the south of the USA palatable.

Rodgers’ pay becomes a problem

However, Rodgers’ move to New Orleans is likely to fall through because of his salary. If the Saints are indeed willing to cede the appropriate picks and/or players to the Packers for Rodgers, and Rodgers is willing to become Cam Jordan’s teammate with the Saints, the salary hurdle might be too high.

Currently, Rodgers weighs in at just over $27 million on the Packers’ salary structure. Next year, however, it will already be more than 46 million.

Not only is this number one of the highest league-wide, but the Saints have by far the worst cap situation of any team. At exactly $71,562,695, the Saints are in the red.

Even if they restructure several contracts, there might not be any money for Rodgers, who made it clear right after the playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers that he didn’t want to be part of a rebuilding process.
