Tom Brady, quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, throws a tablet to the ground on the sidelines of their loss to the New Orleans Saints. Now the NFL is speaking out and issuing a warning
Munich/Tampa Bay – The frustration in the 9-0 shutout loss to the New Orleans Saints was plain to see on Tom Brady’s face.
It was vented when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback threw a tablet to the ground on the sideline after an interception.
NFL: Brady talks about NFL warning for tablet throw
A few days later, the NFL has now spoken out and taken the 44-year-old to task for his action. “I got a warning from the NFL. I can’t throw another Surface to the ground or I’ll have to pay a fine. Imagine that,” Brady tells the “Let’s Go” podcast on “Sirius XM”.
However, the seven-time NFL champion shows his understanding and states that he will let his emotions run free elsewhere in the future. “I’m not going to throw away another Surface. Even though I think at the end of the day it was good marketing for them. I think it paid off in the end,” the playmaker said.
NFL: Teams with Microsoft Surface on the sidelines since 2013
In a since-deleted tweet, Bucs safety C. J. Gardner-Johnson also approached Microsoft with a not-so-serious request. “Hey @Microsoft @Surface, could you send me a new Surface? I want to give it to a friend who broke his. Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas,” the 24-year-old wrote.

The software developer’s response was not long in coming: “We have looked at the tape. We don’t recommend throwing the @Surface to the ground (even if your friend holds the NFL record for most passes received) and have some tips on how to use it properly.”
Teams have been using the Microsoft Surface since the 2013 NFL season, with the deal likely costing the US company around $400 million a year.
