NFL – Arizona Cardinals: Marvin Harrison Jr. with historic deal

Special deal for star rookie Marvin Harrison. The wide receiver runs with his own pair of shoes

Marvin Harrison Jr. is about to make NFL history. And at the very moment he steps onto the field for the first time.

The Arizona Cardinals’ star rookie has landed an exclusive contract with sports outfitter New Balance.

The talented wide receiver will be wearing the sporting goods manufacturer’s new football shoes – the first ever from New Balance.

Harrison had already signed a contract with New Balance at the beginning of the offseason and has now unveiled the shoes together with the Boston-based company.

These are the “Prodigy Cleat”, i.e. gold and white shoes that are particularly suitable for skill players.

There is also the “Fortress” pair. Black and gold football shoes designed for players “who fight in the most intense battles of the game.”

Chase Young also part of the process

“Our first conversations about stepping onto the NFL field began in 2020,” New Balance said on its website: “The goal – to create the best-fitting, most comfortable shoe in the game – was simple. Getting there was not.”

In cooperation with the first wide receiver picked in this year’s draft, the new shoe was created four years later.

“We have focused on an intelligent approach to product development that combines our tradition of world-class craftsmanship with cutting-edge innovation. The prototype designs were tested in our sports research lab by players at all levels, including Chase Young (New Orleans Saints) and Will Anderson Jr. (Houston Texans) These insights proved critical throughout the process,” the statement continued.

“Setting new standards “

New Balance wants to set new standards in the NFL: “The game deserves better. We won’t settle for anything less than setting a new standard.”

Up to now, NFL players have mostly worn shoes from the sports brand Nike. Under Armour was also popular with some stars in the 2010s. Occasionally there were professionals who even wore special Jordans on the field.

Harrison was drafted fourth overall by the Cardinals in the 2024 NFL Draft. The 21-year-old is regarded as an exceptional talent and has already been highly praised by Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray.

“I think he takes us to another level,” Murray told “ESPN”: “When you have a player out there that’s capable of winning one-on-one situations, obviously he has to do that and he knows that. We all know that, but as far as solving out of coverage and things like that, you’ve got a guy out there who can do that.”

He added: “Even when he’s not open, he’s open. I’m looking forward to building that with him, but if he does what he does, I expect our offense to be one of the best in the league. “
