NFL: Arizona Cardinals lose to Los Angeles Rams and top seed in NFC

The Arizona Cardinals are coming off a loss to the Los Angeles Rams to close out the 14th day of NFL play. This is a double blow to the team’s playoff spot in the NFC.

Munich – This loss cost the Arizona Cardinals dearly.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s team lost 23-30 at home to the Los Angeles Rams to close out the 14th NFL game. Not only do the Cards lose the top seed in the NFC to the Green Bay Packers, they also fall behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who also stand at 10-3, for third place.

Furthermore, the lead over the Rams in the NFC West is only one win. So L.A. is back within striking distance in the division battle.

Murray with two interceptions

The Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford had an outstanding day in the game at the University of Phoenix Stadium. Three touchdown passes and 23 of 30 throws for 287 yards were on the scoreboard for him.

His counterpart Kyler Murray completed 32 of 49 passes for 383 yards to his teammates – but he did not manage a touchdown pass and threw two costly interceptions.

Arizona kicked a field goal with 37 seconds left to make it 23-30, and the hosts even recovered the ensuing onside kick, but it wasn’t enough for a touchdown.

The Cardinals, still unbeaten in away games, returned to their home stadium for the first time in a month – without success.

Cardinals play “not clean enough “

“We obviously have to play better in this stadium,” Coach Kingsbury expressed his disappointment after the game. “The crowd was incredible tonight. Great energy, I think our guys played with great energy but just not clean enough.”

A.J. Green echoed that sentiment. “We didn’t play clean,” explained the receiver, who reached a personal mark of 10,000 yards against the Rams. “Penalties, turnovers, you can’t do that against a good team like the Rams. “
