After his trade from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New York Giants, Darren Waller raves about his new team. A dig at his former coach?
For a third-round pick, the Las Vegas Raiders traded Darren Waller to the New York Giants in the offseason.
And the tight end is happy about the move. On the sidelines of the Giants’ so-called Organised Team Activities (OTAs), he raved about his new team: “It’s a very laid-back place, a very fun place where you can be yourself.”
He also praised the interaction between coaches and players, saying, “As a player, my experience has been that with a lot of teams you’re just told what to do. But here they ask you what you think and what you want to do more. “
Praise for Daboll – side-blow to McDaniels?
The 30-year-old’s statements can certainly be seen as a side swipe at the Raiders.
He played there last year under Josh McDaniels, who spent years learning under disciplinarian Bill Belichick at the New England Patriots.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll, on the other hand, is known for his more relaxed and player-oriented style of leadership.
