The New York Giants are facing a pivotal season and may have to do without a star player. Tight end Darren Waller is considering ending his career
Is Darren Waller thinking about ending his career? The New York Giants tight end wants to keep his options open.
The 31-year-old told “Forbes”: “I haven’t made a decision yet. Football requires one hundred percent commitment and willpower over many months.
If I can’t do that, I wouldn’t be doing my team-mates and my franchise justice. “
Darren Waller: Injury-plagued first season
The tight end was traded from the Las Vegas Raiders in the run-up to last season. With the Giants, he was supposed to act as a dynamic playmaker for quarterback Daniel Jones.
In a season overshadowed by injuries, he collected 52 catches for 552 yards and a touchdown.
“I’m a person who is always evolving. I’ve played a lot of football and been through a lot off the field,” Waller explained. Waller did not give an exact date for a decision. The 2024 NFL Draft will take place at the end of April, by which time the Giants are likely to insist on a decision in order to have clarity in their squad planning.
