For the New Orleans Saints, quarterback Andy Dalton and running back Mark Ingram are swapping numbers. Ingram humorously explained to the media last season how uncomfortable he is with numbers that are too high.
Munich/New Orleans – Andy Dalton, quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, has his number of the past years back and will run with the “14” on his back in the upcoming season.
In return, running back Mark Ingram, who was already upset about the available numbers shortly after his trade in the middle of last season, will get the “5”.
Saints: Ingram and Dalton swap numbers
At the time, the veteran wanted the “22” he wore during his early years with the franchise. However, this, like almost all other numbers in the 10s and 20s, was not available. Eventually, he chose “14” because it “seemed like the best of the worst.”
He also wanted “no 30s, that’s just too wide. I’m short and stocky. I have to have a number that fits me a bit,” the 32-year-old said last October. He also rejected a number in the 40 range.
