Curious contract for Taysom Hill: The offensive all-purpose weapon of the New Orleans Saints collects 40 million dollars for four years. 95 million will be if he becomes the starting quarterback.
Munich – This contract is without question unusual: Taysom Hill has signed a new employment contract with the New Orleans Saints.
With this, the all-purpose Hill can earn at least 40 million dollars in the next four years, but at most even up to 95 million dollars – depending on which position he plays. That’s what “ESPN” reports.
Either way, $22.5 million is guaranteed.
More money as starting quarterback
In addition to the $40 million he collects as a “Swiss Army knife” or all-purpose weapon, i.e. for his various surprise roles in the offense, the 31-year-old could get up to $55 million for becoming the Saints’ starting quarterback over the next four years.
New Orleans’ QB Taysom Hill signed a unique four-year, hybrid-type of contract extension that could be worth anywhere between $40 million and $95 million, depending on the position he plays, and includes $22.5 million guaranteed, sources tell ESPN.

Hill is actually a skilled quarterback, he joined the Saints in 2017. Since then, he’s played in 60 games, including some as a signal caller, but mostly in various offensive roles. After Saints legend Drew Brees retired after last season, Jameis Winston won the starter’s job but tore his ACL in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Trevor Siemian took over the starter’s role for him since then, but the three games under his direction were all losses. Hill’s only role, when he wasn’t injured, was that of an all-purpose weapon.
So far in 2021, Hill has thrown eight passes for 47 yards, with one interception. He also caught four passes for 52 yards and ran for 104 more yards and three touchdowns.
