The Los Angeles Rams will face the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 on Sunday. Running back Cam Akers will not be available for the Super Bowl champions. Head coach Sean McVay talks about why.
Munich – The Los Angeles Rams will face the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 on Sunday. Running back Cam Akers will not be on the field then, Rams head coach Sean McVay told US reporters. Akers had already not practised on Friday.
The head coach did not want to explain the reason for his absence. McVay only explained that the franchise and the running back are currently “working through some things”.
He was already listed as not attending practice on Thursday due to a personal matter.
Akers will not suit up for Rams
In response to another question about the 23-year-old’s future, McVay said, according to the Associated Press, “We’re working on some things right now, and I hope you guys understand and respect that.” In addition, the coach added that the situation was “uncharted territory” for both team and player.
Akers missed most of last season due to an Achilles tendon injury. He struggled this season, totaling just 151 yards and one touchdown on 51 carries in five games.
His role will be taken over on Sunday by Darrell Henderson.
