The Los Angeles Rams are playing a disappointing season, rumours of a possible departure of Head Coach Sean McVay are boiling up again. “He’s really tired,” an NFL official is quoted as saying.
The rumours that Head Coach Sean McVay will leave the Los Angeles Rams after the season are heating up again.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Sean quit, at least for a year,” an unnamed NFL executive was quoted as saying on “The Score. “He’s almost done it before. I think he’s really tired. I wouldn’t be shocked if he quit.”
After winning the Super Bowl last season, the Rams are currently playing a disappointing season.
Before Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, the L.A. franchise stands at a 4-10 record and is out of playoff chances.
Rams with negative record for first time under McVay
No wonder there is speculation about McVay.
The 36-year-old is considered an absolute perfectionist, and the current situation cannot be satisfactory for him. Even if the failure is of course closely linked to the injury misfortune of, for example, quarterback Matthew Stafford or star receiver Cooper Kupp.
Despite this, it is the first season with a negative balance under the young head coach. Already in the autumn, rumours were repeatedly heard that McVay was thinking about an early retirement.
McVay: Future as TV expert?
McVay himself had already stated several times that he did not want to be a football coach for life due to the pressure. At the same time, he is said to have already received an extremely lucrative offer as a TV pundit for the Amazon football broadcasts.
With the Super Bowl triumph, McVay has already achieved the ultimate goal, and there are job alternatives. A farewell to the Los Angeles Rams after the disappointing season therefore does not seem out of the question.
