Los Angeles Rams starting safety Taylor Rapp is out for the Wild Card Round Game against the Arizona Cardinals. That will lead to Eric Weddle swapping the couch for the field.
Munich – Rams coach Sean MacVay officially confirmed that Rapp will be unavailable for the upcoming Wild Card Game against the Arizona Cardinals (On Monday night) starting at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Rapp, who played in all 17 games during the regular season, suffered a concussion in the final game of the season against the San Francisco 49ers. He will thus miss against the Cardinals, as will the Rams’ other starting safety, Jordan Fuller.
Eric Weddle had been retired for two years. The Rams signed him for the playoffs earlier in the week. The 37-year-old, who actually ended his career in 2019 after one year with the Rams, will thus come out of retirement and make his NFL comeback for at least one game. Weddle’s career includes being named to the All-Pro First Team twice and the Pro Bowl six times.
Backup safeties Terrell Burgess and Nick Scott are also likely to get an unusual amount of playing time.
