Since the injury to Tyron Smith, the Dallas Cowboys have been plagued with concerns at the tackle position. A signing of free agent Jason Peters could help – and there is progress to report.
Munich – There seems to be progress in the negotiations between the Dallas Cowboys and left tackle Jason Peters. Club owner and general manager Jerry Jones told “105.3 The Fan” that the free agent is visiting Dallas to undergo a performance test.
In addition, he said that while there is no other news to report, he and Peters will sit down for a meeting at the team’s training facility.
Peters would be second oldest NFL player
Peters had already joined the Chicago Bears just before the start of the season last year and had played in 15 games for the injury-plagued O-line club. The Super Bowl LII champion, nine-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer also played 16 seasons for the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys could use him at left tackle, as Tyron Smith suffered a torn hamstring last week and is expected to miss most of the season.
If signed, the 40-year-old would be the second oldest player in the league. Only Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is older at 45.
