Green Bay Packers: Sammy Watkins wants to start again after threatening career end

Sammy Watkins is a new addition to the Green Bay Packers and that despite the fact that he was already expecting his career to end in the summer. But one phone call changed everything.

Munich – Sammy Watkins has been plagued by injuries time and again in the past.

In the offseason, he had already finished with his career. He had sat on the sofa and wondered if he would get another chance, Watkins told a media round. That thought was “incredibly scary”. He had “gotten fat,” the wide receiver reported.

“After every other injury, you worry more. What’s my destiny? What team is going to pick me?”, Watkins offered insight into his state of mind this offseason.

Watkins gushes about Packers

Then, in mid-April, his agent got in touch and told him to fly to the Packers immediately. There he met Matt LaFleur, with whom he had previously worked in 2017 with the Los Angeles Rams when LaFleur worked there in the offensive coordinator position

Now he gets to prove himself there and feels he’s in the right place at the age of 29. “I think this is one of the best situations I’ve been in in my career. I’m playing with one of the best quarterbacks in the league, one of the best coaches and one of the best organisations. To get this opportunity is a blessing because I didn’t do anything for it last year,” he said.

Now, if Watkins puts his money where his mouth is, he could finally be a permanent fixture in the league with the Packers.
