The Green Bay Packers got off to a successful start in the first preseason game. Head Coach Matt LaFleur’s team won 36:19 against the Cincinnati Bengals. After the game LaFleur praised the performance of quarterback Jordan Love.
In the first preseason game of the new season, quarterback Jordan Love was allowed to shake off the offseason rust on the first two drives of the game. In a 36-19 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the presumptive starting offensive sniffed NFL air in the first quarter.
Love completed seven of his ten passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. The first drive ended with a punt, the second in the Bengals end zone. Much to the delight of head coach Matt LaFleur.
“Obviously there are still a few little things you can learn, but I really liked the performance today. The calmness he exuded, the responsibility he took and the speed with which we ran plays in the huddle pleased me. It was a good start for him,” LaFleur said following the game.
Love himself praised the team performance, “We had a good day today. I was particularly pleased with the touchdown we were able to score. Following that, the other guys played well too.”
In the preseason, the Packers still have to face the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks before the season starts at the Chicago Bears.
