Green Bay Packers: Adams successor? Receiver Allen Lazard signs new contract

Good news from the Green Bay Packers. Allen Lazard will remain with the franchise in the future. The wide receiver signs a new contract with the team from Wisconsin.

Munich – Allen Lazard’s decision: The wide receiver has re-signed with the Green Bay Packers. According to coinciding US media reports, the 26-year-old has signed for one year with the Wisconsin franchise.

The so-called restricted contract tender will pay the pass receiver exactly 3.986 million US dollars in the 2022 season. After the season, Lazard then becomes an unrestricted free agent and can choose his team at will without restriction.

Last season, the receiver set several career bests with 40 catches, 513 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Rodgers looking forward to Lazard at Packers

After the departures of star pass receiver Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Lazard now has a chance to be the No. 1 starter for the Packers, according to quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“I’m excited about Allen Lazard. He’s been our go-to guy for the dirty work for most of his career here. Now he gets a chance to be the No. 1 receiver,” Rodgers said. “So I’m not worried at all about him taking that role. I talk to him a lot. I know how he takes care of his body. I know he’ll be ready when he gets here.”

Lazard has yet to show up for practice in Green Bay since the end of last season, and he also missed last week’s Mandatory Minicamp. But as an unsigned player at the time, his presence wasn’t mandatory either.
